About The Position

At Oakwood Springs, the Transportation Coordinator is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of patients from various locations and facilities to the Hospital campus and/or other designated locations. This position involves maintaining a daily log of mileage and gasoline usage, submitting gas receipts, and ensuring the vehicle's interior is clean and presentable for patient transport. The coordinator will also maintain mileage records for scheduling routine vehicle maintenance. Key responsibilities include ensuring patient supervision, maintaining safety, and treating patients with respect and dignity. The role requires coordinating transportation routes and travel for all sites and may involve additional duties within the transportation department. Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three (3) years paid or volunteer professional driving experience.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in a customer service position.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Favorable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
  • Proof of insurance.
  • CPR certification within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact.
  • Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric and geriatric patients.
  • At least two (2) years experience driving 8-12 passenger vans professionally.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safe and timely transportation of patients from various locations and facilities to the Hospital campus and/or other designated locations.
  • Maintain a daily log of mileage and gasoline usage.
  • Submit all gas receipts to the appropriate person(s).
  • Clean the interior of the car on a regular basis, assuring the vehicle is presentable for the transport of patients.
  • Maintain mileage records for the purpose of scheduling routine maintenance.
  • Ensure that patients are supervised.
  • Ensure safety is always maintained.
  • Ensure patients are treated with respect and dignity.
  • Coordinate transportation route and travel for all sites.
  • May take on additional duties for the transportation department.
  • Coordinate transportation routes for all outpatient sites.
  • Assist with coverage within the transportation department as needed.
  • Identify and coordinate meeting spots for patients and family members.
  • Identify and evaluate routes that create efficiency in the transportation of patients.
  • Ensure the schedule and program is consistently delivered to the expectations of the facility.
  • Safeguard the dignity and respect of our patients and customers.
  • Employ appropriate crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques as required and according to policy and procedure.
  • Shuttle patients to appropriate places that are approved by appropriate supervisor.
  • Protect patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
  • Use only equipment trained to use and operate all equipment in a safe manner.
  • Report all potential hot spots and safety concerns to supervisor/manager.
  • Report all accidents and incidents observed on shift to manager immediately.
  • Monitor vehicle condition and record malfunctioning items or damage and submit to manager.
  • Be able to learn and remember pick-up and destination points.
