About The Position

The organ transplantation process depends on precise, time-critical logistics. As a Transportation Coordinator at NORA, you will serve as the central coordination point for the movement of organs, procurement teams, specimens, and medical equipment nationwide. This role requires sound judgment, exceptional composure, and a commitment to operational excellence in support of a mission where timing can determine patient outcomes. Operating within NORA's 24/7 dispatch center, the Transportation Coordinator serves as the primary point of communication between transplant programs, medical teams, transportation providers, and internal stakeholders. This position develops transportation plans across ground, commercial airline, and charter aircraft services, coordinates active missions in real time, and provides accurate, timely updates throughout the transportation process.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong keyboard skills with a minimum typing speed of 60 WPM
  • Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office applications, and data-entry systems.
  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills.
  • Professional telephone and communication abilities.
  • Strong critical thinking and sound decision-making skills under pressure.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends, holidays, and overtime as operational needs require.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in transportation dispatch, logistics coordination, medical transportation, emergency communications, healthcare administration, or call center operations.
  • Experience coordinating ground and/or aviation transportation resources.
  • Familiarity with transportation management systems, CAD systems, or dispatch software.
  • Experience working in healthcare, emergency services, or other time-sensitive operational environments.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, prioritize, and verify transportation requests through phone, email, and dispatch systems, ensuring all critical details are accurately documented.
  • Develop and evaluate transportation plans across ground services, selecting the most efficient option based on client needs and operational timelines.
  • Schedule and dispatch transportation providers, communicating mission requirements clearly to drivers and transport partners.
  • Monitor active transports from initiation through completion, maintaining accurate documentation and providing timely updates regarding delays, weather impacts, and schedule changes.
  • Maintain professional relationships with transplant coordinators, transportation vendors, and healthcare partners while delivering exceptional customer service under time-sensitive conditions.
  • Exercise sound judgment while managing multiple concurrent missions and escalate operational or service issues as appropriate.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
