Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent required.
  • At least 21 years of age, and prior experience coaching, mentoring and motivating others, preferably in a transportation environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and state/vehicle-specific driver credentials.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel) and GPS/routing software.
  • Strong communication and engaging interpersonal skills.
  • Able to multi-task and manage competing priorities.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule.
  • Able to push, pull, bend, turn, pivot, transfer and lift up to 50 pounds; able to routinely and repeatedly exit and enter the vehicle to assist members with on- and off-boarding.
  • Able to pass required physical exams including Department of Transportation (DOT) exam.
  • Successful results of background check, motor vehicle report, drug testing, and any other state-specific requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working with seniors and/or adults with special needs preferred.
  • Knowledge of local geographic area preferred.
  • Certifications such as CPR, First Aid, and Passenger Assisted Safety & Sensitivity (PASS) are required and will be facilitated as part of job training

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Driver training - ensuring all Drivers are provided with the tools to follow all standard operating procedures.
  • Coach and mentor Drivers; provide Center Director or Transportation Manager feedback relative to Drivers’ performance.
  • Develop efficient, scheduled routes and oversee safe transport of all members promptly. Drive assigned routes and ability to jump in and drive when needed.
  • Oversee fleet; ensure Drivers conduct daily vehicle inspections, follow prescribed maintenance and fueling schedule, confirm wheelchair lifts and tie-down equipment are operating correctly, and maintain the cleanliness of their vehicles. Respond to and resolve reports of mechanical or safety concerns, repairs, or service needs.
  • Maintain current and working knowledge of state, federal, and regulatory laws & guidelines related to passenger transport.
  • Effectively manage accident investigations and related reporting.
  • Ensure proper submission of Medicaid billing claims for transportation trips, if applicable.
  • Assist Center Director and home office transportation team in identifying and implementing operational efficiencies to enhance the member experience.
