About The Position

NCIA’s Youth in Transition School (YIT) is seeking a Transportation Coordinator | Automotive Instructor to join their team in Baltimore, MD. This role is responsible for ensuring student safety, punctuality, and engagement through effective transportation coordination and by providing hands-on instruction in automotive skills. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who can turn shop tasks into learning opportunities, values structure and accountability, and understands the importance of stability in guiding young people.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED
3 to 5 years of hands-on automotive experience
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
Ability to balance structure with patience when working with youth

Nice To Haves

ASE certification
Experience working with young people or in a training environment

Responsibilities

Ensure daily transportation runs safely, consistently, and without disruption.
Coordinate student transportation schedules and routes.
Ensure all vehicles are safe, compliant, and inspection ready.
Manage preventative maintenance and repairs.
Maintain logs, documentation, and regulatory compliance.
Train and support drivers to meet expectations.
Respond to issues quickly and keep operations on track.
Provide hands-on instruction in core automotive tasks such as oil changes, tire service, and brake work.
Create structured learning experiences aligned with ASE fundamentals.
Maintain a safe, organized, and functional shop environment.
Track student progress and reinforce accountability and work habits.
Use real-world tasks to teach consistency, responsibility, and pride in workmanship.
