About The Position
Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) is seeking Transportation Construction Inspection professionals to join their Central PA Team. The primary clients are the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, and other Local Government agencies throughout the Central PA Region. The successful candidate will act as a principal inspector, overseeing construction inspection engineering work on projects.
Requirements
- Principal inspector responsible for the supervision of projects in construction inspection engineering work.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance with plans, contract documents, specifications, and standards.
- Assign, schedule, and maintain subordinate inspection staff throughout all project phases.
- Review and maintain all pertinent project documentation, ensuring accurate detailing of construction progress, activities, and materials.
- Ensure compliance with environmental permitting conditions and safety policies and programs.
- Monitor EEO and DBE progress and performance.
- Prepare, review, and submit project inspection reports, work authorizations, work orders, and estimates.
- Notify contractors of non-compliance and required corrective actions.
- Review, analyze, and evaluate contractor schedules.
- Track project progress and advise parties of potential overruns and critical project issues.
- Complete analysis of field tests.
- Attend pre-bid, pre-construction, and/or management level meetings.
- Assist the client with change orders and claim defense.
- Provide clients with updates on construction progress and issues.
- Interact with the general public, government agencies, contractors, sub-contractors, and other internal and external parties to respond to inquiries.
- Work on behalf of the client to draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction-related field issues.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
