The work supports safe, accurate, and compliant production at asphalt plants, concrete facilities, and aggregate quarries.

Requirements

  • One year as an Engineering Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • Two years as a Transportation Technician or Construction Cost Technician 1 (Commonwealth job titles or equivalent Federal Government job titles, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • Three years of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work
  • Three years of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics
  • One year of construction inspection experience, and an associate’s degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Possession of an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver’s License or equivalent
  • Meet the PA residency requirement
  • Be able to perform essential job functions
  • Pass a background investigation

Responsibilities

  • Observe and review testing procedures at asphalt, concrete, and aggregate plants to confirm compliance with required standards
  • Check shipments, weigh slips, and plant documentation to confirm that materials meet specifications
  • Record sampling and testing information accurately and report any issues to supervisors promptly
  • Review testing methods for procedures such as extraction, gradation, air content, slump testing, and unit weights
  • Enter inspection and testing information into electronic systems such as eCAMMS and related applications
  • Assist with material reviews, core drilling activities, and onsite inspections across various locations
