About The Position
ATCS's Construction Services group is expanding in Maryland and seeks transportation construction inspectors at all experience levels, including senior inspectors, inspectors, and trainees. The role involves inspecting transportation construction projects throughout the state, including highway, bridge, environmental, traffic, and facilities projects. Inspectors document project progress, oversee contractor work, verify compliance with contract documents and safe construction practices, conduct material field tests, and report progress and pay quantities to the Project Engineer. Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of full-time inspection experience in highway, transit, and/or facilities construction.
- Valid driver's license.
- Willingness to travel throughout Maryland as required.
- A vehicle in good working condition for travel to required work sites.
- Eligibility to work in the United States.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Successful acquisition and maintenance of inspection training and certifications, such as ACI, Soils & Aggregates, HMA, Traffic Control, and Erosion & Sediment Control.
Responsibilities
- Perform transportation construction inspections on highway, bridge, environmental, traffic, and facilities projects.
- Write daily progress reports.
- Oversee contractor work crews to ensure compliance with contract documents.
- Read and interpret contract documents to verify that safe construction practices are being used to produce quality results.
- Conduct field tests on materials, including concrete slump and air, soil compaction, and hot-mix asphalt (HMA).
- Complete documentation related to materials, labor compliance, safety, estimates, work orders, and adjustments.
- Report on-site activities and daily progress to the Project Engineer using standardized reporting.
- Calculate and determine pay quantities.
