Requirements

One year as an Engineering Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
Two years as a Transportation Technician or Construction Cost Technician 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
Three years of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work
Three years of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics
One year of construction inspection experience, and an associate’s degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology
An equivalent combination of experience and training
Possession of an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver’s License or equivalent

Responsibilities

Examine construction records and verify accuracy against current policies and procedures
Check materials, work methods, and placement to ensure they meet approved plans and specifications
Record work progress, monitor quantities, and update project documentation systems
Review safety practices on site and advise contractor staff on required corrections
Analyze construction plans and explain requirements to contractor personnel as needed
Assist with work orders, payments, and other administrative duties related to project operations
