Requirements

  • One year as an Engineering Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • Two years as a Transportation Technician or Construction Cost Technician 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • Three years of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work
  • Three years of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics
  • One year of construction inspection experience, and an associate’s degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Possession of an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver’s License or equivalent
  • Meet the PA residency requirement

Responsibilities

  • Examine construction records and verify accuracy against current policies and procedures
  • Check materials, work methods, and placement to ensure they meet approved plans and specifications
  • Record work progress, monitor quantities, and update project documentation systems
  • Review safety practices on site and advise contractor staff on required corrections
  • Analyze construction plans and explain requirements to contractor personnel as needed
  • Assist with work orders, payments, and other administrative duties related to project operations
