About The Position

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) is a dynamic, 100% employee-owned consulting firm seeking qualified and experienced Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisors for highway, bridge, and other infrastructure projects within PennDOT's District 4-0 region. The successful candidate will supervise standard inspection procedures of construction activities on behalf of our clients (primarily PennDOT) for structural quality, general safety, and conformance to plans, specifications, and codes.

Requirements

  • Ability to act in an Owner's Agent/Responsible in Charge Role.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Current Client Requested Certifications, including: NICET Level 2 or higher in Transportation Highway Construction, NECEPT- Bituminous Field Technician, PennDOT Concrete Field Technician (ACI Concrete Field Technician is prerequisite).
  • Active driver’s license and reliable motor vehicle.
  • Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening.
  • At a minimum, the candidate must meet the PennDOT Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor Level I criteria.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted for experience).
  • 4+ years of Transportation, Highway or Bridge Construction Inspection Experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in construction management or civil engineering.
  • Supervisory experience in construction management or inspection projects.
  • CDS V-3 and/or ECMS Wave 5 certification or experience.

Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods to ensure compliance with legal requirements and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance with plans, contract documents, specifications, and standards.
  • Oversee, schedule, and maintain subordinate inspection staff throughout all project phases.
  • Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades, and/or pavement to ensure compliance with plans and codes.
  • Make field notes and computations.
  • Work on behalf of the Client to draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction-related field issues.
  • Witness routine sampling and tests on concrete, soils, and other materials.
  • Gather and maintain project records (using PennDOT ECMS and other systems).
  • Interact with the general public, government agencies, contractors, sub-contractors, and other internal and external parties to respond to inquiries.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
