Requirements

  • University degree in Public Administration, Business Analysis, Business Management, or related, PLUS 2 years related experience or equivalent as described.
  • Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of 1 year of education for 1 year of experience, or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
  • Demonstrated experience in audit, regulatory compliance, and evidence-based analysis, including applying audit principles, investigative techniques, and quality assurance methods to support defensible compliance decisions.
  • Extensive experience interpreting and applying complex legislation and regulatory frameworks, including the Motor Vehicle Transport Act, Traffic Safety Act, National Safety Code, and related standards, with the ability to provide authoritative advice to industry stakeholders.
  • Direct experience with carrier compliance and Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) programs, including strong knowledge of associated regulations, policies, procedures, and operational requirements.
  • Proven experience in business analysis, program/policy analysis, and project delivery, including supporting program evaluation, continuous improvement, and implementation of regulatory or compliance-based initiatives.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influence skills, including demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, gain compliance, and support enforcement actions (e.g., imposing operating conditions).
  • Advanced understanding of transportation industry operations, public safety principles, and compliance environments, including auditing and investigative methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, high-pressure workloads, exercise sound judgment, and analyze issues to recommend appropriate, risk-based actions.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence (or equivalent) and ability to provide a clear driver abstract.

Responsibilities

  • Acting as a lead analyst in the development and administration of Alberta’s Auditing Program.
  • Preparing detailed reports, briefings, and recommendations that support senior decision-making and ongoing program improvement.
  • Monitoring compliance trends, evaluating operational outcomes, and identifying areas for innovation and policy enhancement.
  • Leading the recruitment, onboarding, and contract management processes for the Auditing Program.
  • Managing program records, correspondence, and documentation with precision to uphold fairness and regulatory integrity.
  • Engaging internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure program transparency, consistency, and alignment with changing legislation.
