The purpose of this job is to ensure accurate and timely communication of delivery issues or concerns by communicating with the Sales Department, Delivery Colleagues and Contractors (if applicable). This role involves addressing the questions and concerns of Drivers and Sales Representatives, working closely with the Transportation Manager and Supervisors to provide resolution. The clerk will retrieve telephone calls and assist Customer Service Representatives or Sales Representatives with daily route concerns, such as late departures, deliveries, time windows, driver complaints, forecasted arrival times, customer location, and hours of operation. Additionally, the role ensures accurate on-time reporting for department and corporate key metrics, compiles route status information, and communicates it daily via various electronic means. The clerk will also work closely with the Transportation Manager or Supervisor to review situations that have a potential impact on department cost or service levels, manage required training documents for audit requirements, and communicate/log driver challenges and concerns to the assigned Transportation Supervisor for resolution. This position also assists Supervisors with organizing recovery efforts due to customer service failures and performs clerical payroll-related activities. A commitment to safe work practices with minimal environmental impact, including reporting hazards, incidents, and spills, is essential. The role understands the importance of personal and colleague safety and is willing to speak out when hazards are present. Compliance with Sysco’s Food Safety Policy and procedures is required to ensure food safety, quality, and legality.
