About The Position

Hanson is seeking Transportation Engineering interns to join our Jacksonville discipline. Our Civil Engineers plan, design, and prepare construction documents for rural and urban roadways, freeways, and interstates for local, state, and private clients. This role involves vertical and horizontal alignments, geometric design, intersections and interchanges, roadside safety, pedestrian and bicycle accommodations, pavement marking and signage, utility coordination, erosion control, and construction staging. Interns will utilize software such as MicroStation with OpenRoads/Geopak or AutoCAD with Civil3D, which may include 3D modeling of existing and proposed improvements.

Requirements

Actively enrolled in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering program.
Successfully completed sophomore year and actively enrolled in an accredited 4-year college or university.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Strong analytical skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

Experience with MicroStation with OpenRoads/Geopak or AutoCAD with Civil3D.

Responsibilities

Preparing plans, designs, specifications, and cost estimates.
Gathering and/or providing data for the preparation of engineering or environmental reports and studies.
Performing and/or reviewing calculations or reports such as those related to geometrics, transportation engineering, and quantities.
Utilizing engineering software packages such as MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer and/or AutoCad/Civil3D.
Conducting field investigations and/or survey assistance to gather information.
Documenting and/or observing construction operations.
Performing related duties such as writing memoranda, letters, or general reports; collecting and correlating engineering data; maintaining records; and attending meetings.
