The Department of Environmental Services (DES) is seeking innovative and strategic leaders to serve as Transportation Capital Programs Managers within the Transportation Planning and Capital Projects Management (TPCPM) Bureau of the Division of Transportation. Arlington's current 10-year Capital Improvement Program includes more than $600 million in transportation project investments advancing a Complete Streets vision across commercial corridors, non-commercial corridors, and neighborhoods. This position leads one of the Transportation Capital Projects Program teams, managing four to five professional staff responsible for implementing transportation projects that support Arlington County’s vision for its transportation network: People of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities can move safely, comfortably, and seamlessly in Arlington. Everyone can rely on a variety of high-quality, sustainable transportation options to get them where they want to go, when they need to be there, without having to depend on a car. Arlington focuses on making travel an enjoyable experience for people, connecting them with nature, friends, family, and opportunities. The Program Manager provides strategic direction and oversight for a portfolio of multi-million-dollar projects of local and regional significance that are funded through a combination of local, state, regional, and federal sources. The position works under the direct supervision of the TPCPM Bureau Chief and collaborates closely with the Transportation Planning manager, the other Capital Programs Manager, and leadership across DES Bureaus, including Engineering, Transportation Engineering and Operations, Transit, Environmental Management, Water Sewer and Streets, as well as the Forestry section of the Department of Parks and Recreation.
