About The Position

STV is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Transportation Intern to join our Transportation team. This hybrid position requires at least 3 days per week in the office. Preference will be given to candidates who can commit to at least 3 months and are available to work full-time. In this role, you will collaborate with senior and junior designers to support the delivery of a wide range of transportation infrastructure projects. Assignments will include work on public transit systems, pedestrian and bicycle facilities, roadway design, and bridge engineering projects, as well as other large-scale public and private infrastructure improvements. This position is well-suited for candidates with a strong interest in transportation and structural engineering, particularly in the planning and design of bridges and related structures.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university (or NCEES equivalent).

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with OpenRoads Designer and/or MicroStation.
  • Exposure to bridge design concepts, structural analysis, or transportation infrastructure coursework.
  • Prior internship or experience in the architecture, engineering, or construction (AEC) industry.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of engineering drawings, plans, and specifications using MicroStation or OpenRoads Designer for transportation and bridge infrastructure projects.
  • Support bridge-related design tasks, including plan development, detailing, and coordination with structural engineering teams.
  • Format reports, calculations, and technical specifications to support project documentation.
  • Maintain and organize project electronic files, including printing, scanning, and document control tasks.
  • Gain exposure to STV’s organizational structure and project delivery processes through a variety of assignments.
  • Utilize company-wide and discipline-specific software to complete assigned tasks.
  • Participate in project-specific activities, contributing to the successful delivery of transportation and bridge projects.
