About The Position

Assist in coordinating the activities of Tricont truck drivers. Role model and demonstrate the Company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety of self and others. The Dispatch Assistant also plays a vital role in ensuring the company’s continued success by ensuring they are dependable, focused on safety and to be flexible and cooperative. The Dispatch Assistant should have knowledge of DOT rules and regulations and possess the ability to help with staffing, recruiting, and mentoring CDL Drivers.

Requirements

  • Work hours – 40 + hours per week as needed (Monday - Friday)
  • High School diploma or GED, but college degree preferred
  • 3-6 years of transportation and 3rd party dispatch experience in sourcing and developing carriers and routing.

  • Ability to coordinate high volume phone skills
  • Computer experience with Microsoft products like excel and email
  • Accurate typing skills

Responsibilities

  • Provide superior customer service to both internal and external customers by exceeding their expectations
  • Dispatch delivery routes and make changes as and when required
  • Assisting office manager with onboarding new drivers
  • Record drivers PTO to send to payroll
  • Coordinate and manage schedules of drivers to ensure product is delivered on time
  • Daily communication with drivers, customers, shippers and management
  • Manage tendering process via TMS to route the lowest cost provider
  • Track drivers log such as dispatched orders and arrival times
  • Record monthly tractor/trailer miles and reefer hours
  • Order and arrange cleaning of driver’s uniforms
  • Maintain on time Delivery performance of 97% or better
  • Update/track carrier/driver location information within company guidelines
  • Coordinate with 3rd party carrier on loads tendered
  • Managing demurrage, detention, and other accessorial costs with customer and carrier
  • Assist with the pickup and drop-off of trucks to the vendor shop
  • Assist inside sales efforts
  • Keep paperwork for trucks current
