About The Position

The Transportation Assistant (International Programs) is responsible for safely transporting international students to and from designated locations while supporting their overall experience at Lakeside. This role plays a key part in welcoming students, ensuring reliable mobility, and serving as a friendly, supportive resource as students navigate the community and surrounding area.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to be approved as an authorized driver and covered under Lakeside’s insurance policies.
  • Must meet all organizational and insurance requirements for operating company vehicles.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and commitment to safe driving practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations, including international students.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to adhere to a flexible schedule based on transportation needs.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age (or as required by insurance guidelines).

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport international students to and from designated locations, mainly to the grocery store for essential items, but can also include airports, bus stations, housing, and program-related activities as approved by the Human Resources department.
  • Provide a welcoming and supportive experience for international students upon arrival, helping them feel comfortable and oriented to the Lakeside community.
  • Assist with basic wayfinding and orientation, including pointing out key campus and community resources.
  • Maintain clear and timely communication with students, program coordinators, and supervisors regarding transportation schedules and needs.
  • Ensure vehicles are operated safely and responsibly, following all traffic laws and organizational policies.
  • Conduct basic vehicle checks (fuel level, cleanliness, general condition) and report any maintenance issues promptly.
  • Adjust transportation schedules, with approval from Human Resources, as needed to accommodate changes in student arrivals, departures, and program activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when interacting with students and handling sensitive information.
  • Be flexible and available to assist with occasional evening and weekend transportation needs as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the success of the international program.
