Tribute Baking Company is looking for an experienced Transportation & Logistics Supervisor to join our team in Dorchester, MA. We're seeking someone with a strong understanding of freight and carrier practices, particularly in food manufacturing, and a genuine commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and productive workplace. In this role, you'll manage inbound and outbound freight for our Boston cake manufacturing plant, working closely with purchasing, plant management, and customer service to keep ingredients arriving and finished goods shipping on time and at the right cost, and coordinating with our sister subsidiaries where opportunities arise to combine shipments. Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of FTL, LTL, and bulk freight operations, carrier markets, and rate structures.
  • Proven negotiation skills and the ability to build productive, long-term carrier relationships.
  • High level of detail and accuracy, particularly with rates, documentation, and invoice auditing.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and Microsoft Excel; experience with transportation management systems (TMS) strongly preferred; reporting tools such as Power BI a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands, respond quickly to disruptions, and take personal accountability to make sure all assigned tasks fit the core value of "excellence."

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3+ years of experience in transportation, freight, or logistics management, preferably in food manufacturing or distribution.
  • Experience managing broker relationships.

Nice To Haves

  • associate or bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics, or business preferred.
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations and food transportation requirements (e.g., FSMA Sanitary Transportation rule, HACCP) preferred.
  • Professional working proficiency in Spanish is preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and dispatch inbound and outbound full truck load (FTL) and less than truckload (LTL) shipments for the Dorchester plant.
  • Source, qualify, and manage relationships with carriers and freight brokers.
  • Coordinate inbound freight pickups with suppliers and purchasing to support production schedules and on-time ingredient deliveries.
  • Communicate daily with carriers, plant management, and customer service to coordinate shipments, track loads, and resolve issues such as delays, rejections, and detention.
  • Scheduling and supervision for in-house driver for regional shipping
  • Review and audit carrier invoices against quoted rates and accessorial agreements; identify, dispute, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Support periodic freight bids and rate benchmarking to keep lane rates competitive.
  • Prepare and verify shipping documentation, including bills of lading, for domestic and international shipments.
  • Maintain accurate freight, shipment, and carrier records in NetSuite and supporting systems.
  • Coordinate with sister subsidiaries to identify and execute LTL consolidation opportunities that reduce freight costs.
  • Monitor and report on transportation KPIs such as freight cost per load, on-time performance, and carrier scorecards; recommend and implement cost-saving opportunities.
  • Ensure carrier compliance with food safety, insurance, and DOT requirements, including temperature-controlled and food-grade trailer standards where applicable.
  • Support claims management for damaged, lost, or refused freight.
  • Perform general office duties and support related administrative tasks as needed.
