About The Position

The Transportation Aide provides safe transportation to and from resident appointments, schedules appointments, and assists with resident care and facility activities. The role supports residents during transfers and at appointments, helps with patient-care tasks and documentation, and contributes to a safe and secure environment that promotes resident health and comfort. The position is based at Monument Health Sturgis Hospital in Sturgis, South Dakota, and is scheduled for 40 hours per week.

Requirements

• Hold a state driver's license.
• Obtain Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification from the South Dakota Board of Nursing within 120 days of hire, in accordance with SD 44:74:02:03.
• At least 1 year of related work experience.
• Ability to work assigned schedules and hours as determined by the department.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED equivalent in General Studies.
• At least 1 year of long-term care experience.

Responsibilities

• Keep track of and adhere to resident appointment schedules.
• Provide transportation to resident appointments and assist residents with transfers and appointment paperwork.
• Assist with patient care as needed, including room turnovers, positioning, transfers, and transport of patients; cross-training is required.
• Support patient-care activities, as evidenced by observation and feedback.
• Contribute to permanent documentation of patient data.
• Encourage residents to participate in religious activities to meet their spiritual needs.
• Provide and maintain a safe and secure environment that promotes optimal resident health and comfort.
• Shop for residents and/or assist residents with shopping needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
