About The Position

The Forsyth County Department of Public Health is seeking a highly energetic and self-motivated professional to work as a Transportation Aide to provide transportation as part of the services of the Preventive Health and Education Services division. Our program provides services to eliminate transportation barriers and increase appointment visits for clients receiving public health services or participating in public health programs. The overall mission is to work as a team in an effort to improve health outcomes and the human condition in Forsyth County. This position also provides administrative assistance to programs within the Preventive Health and Education Services division of the Public Health Department, assisting with chaperoning teens and assisting with childcare for parenting classes and events within the division. The person selected for this position must have a valid driver's license and be able to drive both a 7-passenger and 15-passenger van. Work hours may include early mornings, evenings and weekends.

Requirements

• Ability to read and write information relevant to performing the work.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Ability to drive both a 7-passenger and 15-passenger van.
• Knowledge of the social, economic, and environmental conditions of the clients to be served.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to communicate with patients tactfully and courteously.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
• Ability to perform basic computer functions.
• Knowledge of car seat installation and seatbelt usage.

• Use Microsoft Office and/or Google products such as Google Docs and sheets.
• Use an office phone, desktop computer, laptop, copier, LCD projector, and carts for transporting materials to meeting rooms for set up.
• Use GPS navigation system.
• Use cellular devices and Google maps.

Responsibilities

• Provide transportation as part of the services of the Preventive Health and Education Services division.
• Provide transportation services at the Forsyth County Department of Public Health to eligible clients receiving or participating in public health program and/or services.
• Provide administrative assistance to programs within the division.
• Assist with chaperoning teens and assisting with childcare for parenting classes and events within the division.
