About The Position

This position is responsible for assisting and transporting students with special needs to and from school and other related activities. The aide will ensure the safety and well-being of the students during transportation. Placement at one of the five transportation yards (Arville, Cheyenne, Northwest, Russell, or Wallace) will be determined by the department's needs at the time of hire.

Requirements

Possession of a valid driver's license or state-issued identification card.
Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
Ability to assist and transport students with special needs.
Ability to ensure the safety and well-being of students during transportation.
Willingness to work at any of the five designated transportation yards based on departmental needs.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with students with special needs.
Experience in a transportation-related role.

Responsibilities

Assist in the safe boarding and deboarding of students with special needs onto and off of the school bus.
Provide direct supervision and assistance to students during transportation.
Ensure the safety and well-being of all students during the route.
Assist students with special needs as required, which may include physical assistance or behavioral support.
Communicate with the bus driver regarding student needs and any incidents that occur during the route.
Maintain a clean and orderly environment within the bus.
Follow all district policies and procedures related to student transportation and safety.
