The Transport Team Tech is responsible for utilizing emergency medical technician clinical skills, medical terminology, and ORC Emergency Vehicle Operation laws to transport patients. This role independently assesses department needs and responds within the EMT scope of practice. The Tech must maintain a current driver's license with a good driving record (no more than 5 points), current national registry, Ohio and Kentucky EMS certification, and a clear record of incidents in a CCHMC vehicle. Responsibilities include turning in all fuel slips and required documentation, and demonstrating compliance with physical requirements of lifting, pushing, and carrying up to 150 lbs. The role also involves fostering a safe environment, ensuring crew, family, and patients adhere to safety requirements in a moving vehicle, maintaining an organized and safe work environment, reporting malfunctioning equipment and hazards, anticipating changes in needs based on volume, and ensuring proper working conditions of patient care and unit equipment. Effective communication with the healthcare team, patients, and families is crucial, including reporting changes in patient condition, responding promptly to requests, participating in performance improvement activities, and maintaining confidentiality. The Tech must act in a manner that maintains confidentiality, protects patient/family information, and accesses only necessary information.
