About The Position

Kiewit has a large and diverse equipment fleet. Maintenance of such a large and expensive fleet requires a well-structured and properly executed maintenance program which involves the participation of everyone on the project. The Transport Superintendent is responsible for coordinating, facilitating, and executing equipment activities in support of all construction projects. Kiewit Equipment Services (KES) helps to ensure the profitability of Kiewit projects through the improved equipment utilization and mechanical reliability by delivering world-class equipment and service.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge interpreting construction prints and engineered drawings.
  • Have a good work ethic.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 10 plus consecutive years’ experience in heavy transport and rigging.
  • Experience operating Goldhofer PST/SL-E self-propelled trailers.
  • Experience operating Enerpac SBL gantry systems.
  • Advanced understanding of crane setup and lifting operations.
  • Regular, reliable attendance.
  • Work productively and meet deadlines timely.
  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
  • Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
  • Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines.
  • Work overtime and weekends as required.
  • May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.

Responsibilities

  • Follow instructions of Project Manager.
  • Plan upcoming projects with Project Manager, including developing schedule and execution plan for scope of work, identifying equipment needs, and planning efforts with the engineering team.
  • Ensure team is implementing TSCD regulations.
  • Coordinate equipment/personnel mobilization with the job team.
  • Coordinate logistics for equipment and gear.
  • Coordinate scope/schedule with the job team.
  • Coordinate job team support efforts with the job team.
  • Have daily communication with the job team during their POD.
  • Manage operations, workflow, and schedule within budget.
  • Submit daily work reports to Project Manager and properly file in SharePoint.
  • Have weekly conversations with Project Manager about completed milestones, schedule, and upcoming operations.
  • Look ahead and plan consecutive tasks for the day/week.
  • Direct and coordinate assigned Foreman and crew daily.
  • Submit daily inspections for assigned equipment to Project Manager and properly file in SharePoint.
  • Recognize the capacities and capabilities of the assigned Goldhofer PST/SL-E combination.
  • Recognize the capacities and capabilities of the assigned Enerpac SBL gantry system.
  • Operate forklifts.
  • Operate manlifts for aerial inspections of equipment.
  • Direct/coordinate rigging of components and cargo.
  • Supervise the connecting/building of Goldhofer modules to create different combinations according to manufacturer’s specs., ensuring proper use of tools, connection of hoses, and proper bolting and cambering of trailer modules. Inspect and verify trailer combination is properly configured, valved, and programmed once complete.
  • Oversee proper loading, lashing, and transport of high value cargo.
  • Inspect and verify transport routes are properly constructed, and no obstructions will impede operations.
  • Spot, flag, and support transport operators.
  • Interpret and implement the use of construction prints and engineered drawings.
  • Supervise building of hydraulic gantry systems according to manufacturer’s specs. and engineered drawings, including proper crib, shim placement, level of track, gauging and alignment of track, sizing generator, verifying power cord routing, and inspecting/verifying proper construction.
  • Supervise rigging of cargo to hydraulic gantries using proper rigging techniques.
  • Oversee the cleanup/pick up of work area at the end of each shift.
  • Coordinate maintenance for transport and gantry equipment, including servicing engines, changing filters, greasing components, and checking tire pressures with support from the on-site maintenance team.
  • Instruct others on how to properly use a torch, grinder, and air arc to clean barges or rail cars.
  • Willing and able to assist the project team with other tasks not pertaining to your scope when your duties are complete.
  • Understand and implement Kiewit’s heavy haul standard operating procedures.
  • Understand and implement Kiewit’s corporate crane policies and procedures.
