About The Position

This is a part-time, non-exempt position within the Sheriff's Office, with a starting wage of $25.56/hr. The role involves completing transports of in-custody persons to and from the Dodge County Jail, maintaining secure custody, and ensuring the safety of those being transported. The position requires less than 20 hours per week, with hours varying based on transport needs. The role also includes essential functions such as maintaining records, attending training, understanding the Sheriff's Office mission and vision, regular attendance, and performing other related duties as assigned. Maintaining weapons qualifications is also a requirement.

Requirements

  • Proficient skill in criminal and non-criminal investigations, and report writing.
  • Working knowledge of applicable state statutes, county ordinances, and agency policies, rules, and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to function effectively and prioritize functions under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to explain and enforce federal, state, and county laws clearly and courteously.
  • The employee must have the ability to testify in court as a credible and trustworthy witness.
  • Occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force.
  • Regularly requires sitting.
  • Frequently requires standing, speaking or hearing, using hands to handle or feel and repetitive motions.
  • Occasionally requires walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and reaching with hands and arms.
  • Standard vision requirements.
  • Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
  • Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
  • Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data and observing general surroundings and activities.

Responsibilities

  • Complete transports of in-custody persons to and from the Dodge County Jail.
  • Maintain secure custody of persons being transported.
  • Ensure the safety of persons being transported.
  • Maintains weapons qualifications per the sheriff’s office standards.
  • Records for permanent record clear, complete, correct, and concise reports of assignments and investigations.
  • Attends training as required.
  • Understands and follows the mission and vision statement of the Sheriff’s Office.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality required.
  • Performs other related duties as may be required or assigned.
