About The Position

Western States Trucking, LLC, a subsidiary of Ergon, Inc., is a relationship-driven company that values each employee's willingness to learn and contribute to the team. We are family-owned with locations throughout the US, but we pride ourselves on maintaining a small-company feel. We are currently recruiting for a Transport Driver for our Henderson, TX location. The Transport Driver is responsible for the "on-time" and safe delivery of products while maintaining a professional appearance and attitude. Transport Drivers perform a vital function in the service of our customers by transporting product safely and efficiently while complying with all applicable federal and state transportation and safety regulations.

Requirements

Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with X Tanker and HazMat combo.
2-3 years of Class A CDL driving experience.
1 year cargo tanker driving experience.
Solid work history.
Excellent driving record.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Customer-service focused.
Able to understand weigh scales and basic measurements.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma/GED preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Drive tractor-trailer (tanker) combination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations, to transport and deliver asphalt products over short and long distances.
Use and/or operate equipment, including but not limited to: ladders, loading arms, control valves, metal hoses, landing gear, air lines, cords and wheel pins.
Maneuver truck into loading and unloading position, following signals from terminal operators as needed.
Drive truck to weigh station before and after product loading and along route to document weight.
Drive truck into position to load at filling rack.
Open valves or starts pumps to fill trailer.
Read gauges or meters and records quantity loaded.
Record amount delivered and issues ticket to customer.
Conform to Federal and State driving regulations, including driver logs.
Inspect truck before and after trips. Submits report indicating truck condition.
Read "Bill of Lading" to determine assignment.
Responsible for re-fueling truck, checking oil and all fluids.
Maintains truck interior.
Able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time in a variety of weather conditions.
Manual dexterity; ability to reach; able to bend and move with agility.
Ability to lift and move up to 50-70 lbs.
Able to climb up and down tank ladder as needed.
Well-groomed professional appearance.
