About The Position

The Transport Driver operates motor vehicles on and off ADESA Lexington premises to transport, pick up, and deliver vehicles in support of auction activities. The driver safely moves, stages, and parks vehicles in the correct lot areas to support the flow of vehicles for car auctions. The position pays $15.00 per hour and offers one of two schedules: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., and Fridays, 8:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. (approximately 24 hours); or Mondays and Tuesdays, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., Thursdays, 8:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m., and Fridays, 8:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. (approximately 32 hours).

The role requires a clean background check and a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Drivers must be at least 18 years old, qualified to operate a motor vehicle, able to perform basic computer tasks, and able to work outdoors in any type of weather. The work includes both indoor and outdoor conditions, temperature changes, outdoor weather, slightly elevated ambient noise, and minor atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, and dust. Physical activity ranges from light to medium work, with frequent standing, watching, touching, listening, walking, and talking. Running, jumping, yelling, or other rapid or forceful movement may be needed in emergency situations. Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception, and field of vision comparable to those for clerical, administrative, and machine operator positions.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be qualified to operate a motor vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license.
• Must have a clean driving record.
• Must pass a complete background check.
• Basic computer skills are required.
• Ability to work outdoors under any type of weather conditions.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Drive vehicles to and from designated areas and pick up and deliver vehicles while following auction driving rules and road rules and demonstrating courteous, defensive driving.
• Drive assigned vehicles through auction lanes on sale day.
• Verify vehicle identification numbers (VINs) against transportation requests for vehicles being picked up or delivered.
• Line up and park vehicles in the correct order as directed by the Lot Manager, Team Leader, or designated supervisor.
• Inflate tires and jump-start vehicles using a battery box and air tank when necessary.
• Fill the gas tank when a vehicle is out of gas.
• Assist customers, including dealers and account representatives, as well as co-workers, as needed.
• Perform a walk-around of each vehicle before moving it and note any damage.
• Follow other job-related instructions and perform other job-related duties as assigned.
