About The Position
The primary function of the Transportation Driver is to safely and reliably transport individuals experiencing homelessness to and from employment, enrichment, and supportive services. This role directly supports engagement, and access to essential resources.
Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License with acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Ability to safely operate a large vehicle.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and engagement skills.
- Effective problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Nice To Haves
- Previous professional driving experience preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Knowledge of homelessness, poverty, and mental health preferred.
Responsibilities
- Operates within DuPagePads Core Values and Trauma-Informed Policies.
- Serves as primary transportation support for individuals experiencing homelessness.
- Transports individuals to community events, workshops, and agency-related appointments.
- Provides transportation during daytime hours.
- Plans safe and efficient transportation routes and schedules.
- Conducts pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Maintains passenger safety and reports unsafe conditions.
- Completes required transportation documentation in a timely manner.
- Participates in trainings, team meetings, and program activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
