About The Position

In this position, you will coordinate drivers, equipment, routes, and customer deliveries in a fast-paced transportation environment. You will play an essential role in helping our drivers work safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Requirements

  • Previous dispatch, routing, transportation, logistics, or fleet-coordination experience.
  • Working knowledge of dispatch systems, GPS tracking, routing tools, and fleet-management technology.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and other common office applications.
  • Familiarity with Chicago-area roads, traffic patterns, and surrounding Midwest service regions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, and recordkeeping ability.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple deliveries and make sound decisions under time pressure.
  • A calm, professional, and customer-focused approach to unexpected problems.
  • Commitment to transportation safety, accuracy, teamwork, and reliable service.
  • Availability to provide occasional weekend, holiday, emergency, or after-hours assistance.

Nice To Haves

  • Fuel, petroleum, lubricant, tanker, or hazardous-material transportation experience is preferred.
  • Experience dispatching fuel or other regulated bulk-liquid products.
  • Familiarity with DOT hours-of-service requirements and transportation documentation.
  • Experience coordinating local and regional commercial deliveries.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and schedule daily deliveries of gasoline, diesel fuel, lubricants, and DEF.
  • Dispatch company drivers and tank-wagon equipment on local and regional routes.
  • Assign loads and provide drivers with accurate delivery instructions, route information, and customer requirements.
  • Monitor routes and delivery progress using GPS, dispatch, and fleet-management systems.
  • Adjust routes and schedules in response to traffic, customer changes, equipment issues, weather, and other unexpected conditions.
  • Communicate professionally with drivers, customers, terminals, and internal departments.
  • Confirm delivery completion and maintain accurate dispatch, order, driver-hour, and delivery records.
  • Help optimize routes, equipment utilization, and driver productivity.
  • Respond promptly to delivery questions, service issues, and time-sensitive customer requests.
  • Coordinate with operations, sales, accounting, and customer-service teams to resolve order or scheduling concerns.
  • Support compliance with DOT, OSHA, environmental, and company safety requirements.
  • Assist with emergency and after-hours operational coverage when needed.
