About The Position

Under the direction of Manager/Supervisor(s), provides transportation service for patients from neonates to geriatrics and patient related materials. These materials may include, but are not limited to specimens, oxygen tanks, package, slips, supplies, medication orders, labs, etc. May utilize various such as equipment pagers, locks, etc. Performs preventive maintenance on all transport equipment as required.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED certificate required.
One (1) year of customer service experience, preferably in a healthcare environment, required.
Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and/or communicate in English sufficiently to perform job duties.
Ability to communicate with a variety of patients and healthcare professionals.
Must be able to walk and stand for long periods; push, pull, lift, and bend with proper hand‑eye coordination in compliance with PM&R Physical Assessment.
Must successfully complete UH’s body mechanics training within three (3) months of hire.
Ability to complete CPR instruction.
Must be able to respond to changing staffing needs and shift rotations with required advance notification

Responsibilities

Provides patient transport services for individuals of all ages, from newborns to older adults.
Moves and delivers a variety of patient‑related materials, including specimens, oxygen tanks, packages, supply items, medication orders, and laboratory materials.
Uses necessary equipment such as pagers, locks, and other transport‑related tools.
Performs routine preventive maintenance on all transportation equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
