About The Position

Emory University’s Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology seeks a full-time fellowship trained Transplant Nephrologist at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher to join a robust team. Candidates will be considered based on their experience and long-term career interests. The role involves serving as a transplant nephrologist in the Emory Transplant Center with an active inpatient and outpatient practice, with coverage and practice responsibilities across Emory-owned and affiliated hospitals. The position includes maintaining an academic appointment in the Renal Division, Department of Medicine, Emory University School of Medicine. Key efforts focus on providing outstanding clinical care, maintaining/improving quality and patient safety, accessing and managing clinical trials, and developing/refining innovative strategies in adult abdominal transplant surgery. Specific focus areas include clinical or basic research, quality improvement, and/or education. Responsibilities also encompass participation in committees, patient selection conferences, peer review, presenting cases in M&M conferences, managing patient workups and procedures according to department guidelines, and adopting new tools and technologies relevant to abdominal transplant practice. Additionally, the role involves educating and mentoring medical students, residents, fellows, and other rotators through the transplant surgery service.

Requirements

  • Board certified in nephrology
  • Completion of an AST-accredited Transplant Nephrology Fellowship
  • A valid, unrestricted medical license to practice medicine in the State of Georgia

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a transplant nephrologist in the Emory Transplant Center with an active inpatient and outpatient practice.

  • Facilitate access to and management of clinical trials.
  • Develop/refine innovative strategies in adult abdominal transplant surgery.
  • Focus on clinical or basic research, quality improvement, and/or education.
  • Participate in committees, patient selection conference, peer review.
  • Present cases in the M&M case conferences.
  • Manage patient workups and procedures according department guidelines.
  • Adopt any tools and/or technologies deemed part of the practice of abdominal transplant.
  • Participate in the education and mentorship of medical students, residents and fellows and other rotators through the transplant surgery service.
