About The Position

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has a unique combination of education, research, and clinical programs that encourages and supports teamwork and diversity. This position analyzes and reports transplant essential data, works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure proper reporting of transplants, and assists with monthly quality audit activities. The role is responsible for managing and coordinating the collection, analysis, and reporting of data related to organ transplantation. It ensures accurate and timely documentation of patient information, maintains transplant databases, and collaborates with healthcare professionals to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. The position also assists in monitoring patient outcomes and contributes to quality improvement initiatives in transplant programs.

Requirements

  • Two (2) yr/Associate Degree - Nursing
  • Three (3) yr Oncology/Transplant nursing
  • EPIC and Electronic health information systems required
  • RN License
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Four (4) yr/Bachelor degree - Nursing
  • Eight (8) yr Oncology/Transplant or hematologic nursing OR Equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

  • Abstracts, collects, and manages transplant-related clinical data.
  • Designs and maintains databases; perform data querying and reporting.
  • Develops and tracks transplant statistics and outcomes (e.g., survival rates, complications).
  • Reviews medical records for required documentation.
  • Maintains readiness for audits, inspections, and surveys.
  • Tracks trends and analyze large datasets to identify improvement areas.
  • Supports quality/performance improvement projects within the transplant program.
  • Maintains transplant-specific systems such as the OPTN database.
  • Ensures timely and accurate data entry for national reporting.
  • Works with EMR systems (like Epic) and other health information systems.
  • Communicates findings and reports to leadership and clinical teams.
  • Helps develop and update policies and procedures.
  • Assists with staff education and mock regulatory surveys.
  • Supports leadership in maintaining continuous program readiness.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
