The Transmission Relay Construction Planner reports to the Area Coordination Supervisor and is responsible for coordinating all planning activities in support of the I&M annual work plan and routine capital work, including managing all activities scheduled for the Transmission Relay Construction field technicians. The Planner develops plans that facilitate work execution, ensuring materials and resources are available and verifying equipment maintenance/performance history to identify special requirements. The role also involves identifying opportunities for concurrent work to gain resource efficiencies, facilitating process improvements for productivity and cost competitiveness, documenting and explaining variances in work hours, and monitoring work progress to identify areas for improvement. The Planner ensures NERC compliance PMs are scheduled appropriately and may be required to ensure accurate completion of NERC-related documentation. This position works closely with construction resources and Project Management to plan, estimate, and allocate resources for projects assigned to the internal maintenance crew, requiring knowledge of construction activities. The role supports the development and implementation of construction and maintenance work plans for annual programs ranging from $150M - $300M, managing changes to align with funding requirements and prioritize work. The Transmission Work Management Planner identifies critical work activities, keeps work groups informed of nearing overdue work, and communicates/schedules with various groups to coordinate high-priority work. Planners participate in project planning meetings, clarify scope, identify and assign resources, develop work sequences, identify obstacles, and determine clearance requirements. They also coordinate clearances with relevant departments for load issues and assist in resolving and re-sequencing work considering customer and grid sensitivities. Travel to work locations is required for developing work/project requirements, attending meetings, performing site walk-downs, auditing work packages, and ensuring parts and equipment availability.
