About The Position

Otter Tail Power Company is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Transmission Project Developer to support the development and execution of transmission line projects. This role plays a critical part in advancing infrastructure initiatives that support reliable electric service and regional growth. This role reports to Senior Management Project Management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, environmental science, planning, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Demonstrated experience in project development, permitting, or infrastructure projects (utility or transmission experience preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory and permitting processes related to transmission or energy infrastructure.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including experience with public outreach and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong organizational and contract management capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of transmission line projects from concept through execution.
  • Obtain major permits required for the construction of transmission lines, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Manage permitting timelines and coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Facilitate community engagement efforts, including outreach, communication, and relationship management with stakeholders.
  • Oversee siting and routing activities, working closely with internal teams and external consultants.
  • Review, negotiate, and manage contracts throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, environmental, legal, and asset management.
  • Track project progress, budgets, and risks, ensuring successful delivery aligned with company objectives.
