Transmission Planning Engineer

Pacific Gas And Electric Company•Oakland, CA
•$120,888 - $183,840•Hybrid

About The Position

The Transmission Planning Engineer provides technical support and transmission system reliability analysis to develop transmission solutions for generation interconnection studies. The work supports California’s Renewable Portfolio Standard goals and CPUC mandates and policy initiatives for generation, distributed generation, and energy storage, while meeting NERC compliance requirements. At the Journey level, the engineer resolves problems and may receive direction from senior engineers and a supervisor; with increasing experience, the role carries greater responsibility and independence in judgment for standard problems. The position interfaces and coordinates with internal and external customers of PG&E Transmission Planning. The engineer plans, develops, and recommends transmission plans that support the safe, reliable, economic, efficient, and environmentally acceptable operation of the electric transmission system. The role participates in CAISO generation interconnection and deliverability studies and performs power-flow and transient-stability analysis. The position is hybrid, working from a remote office and an assigned work location within PG&E’s service territory based on business needs. It is represented by the Engineers and Scientists of California (ESC) and subject to collective bargaining.
