About The Position

This position is responsible for the comprehensive planning, scheduling, and prioritization of maintenance and repair activities for substation and transmission assets, including transmission line patrols. Additional responsibilities include coordinating crew schedules for commissioning of new substation and transmission assets, and other capital improvement projects. The role also manages equipment maintenance plans in alignment with the Protection System Maintenance Program (PSMP) and oversees work orders within the department’s asset management database. This position may also provide direction and oversight to other staff members.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with database management tool for Substation and Transmission assets
  • Develop and run annual maintenance forecasts in department’s asset management database for upcoming planned maintenance of substation equipment and transmission line patrols maintaining NERC compliance and system reliability
  • Create master schedule to establish transmission maintenance sequence for all transmission assets to meet completion dates according to forecasted workloads on Substation and Transmission facilities to maintain all NERC standards
  • Schedule PEC substation equipment maintenance and transmission line patrols, and crews for substation and transmission line commissioning; enter scheduled work accordingly in department calendar.
  • Examine system loading of Substation and Transmission facilities for better coordination of system outage requests
  • Coordinate with crew members to develop or update department test reports
  • Process completed test reports, nameplate data, equipment information, and all other pertinent information into department’s asset management database maintaining supporting documentation for NERC/TRE audits
  • Collect data and maintain asset management database according to removals or installs
  • Manage Substation and Transmission databases concerning work order, capturing repair and testing history data, and overall accuracy of the equipment data and maintenance plans
  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders regarding substation and transmission system equipment status
  • Coordinate with management discussing maintenance needs and schedules to meet internal and external needs
  • Works with substation design, project management, and substation/transmission supervisory personnel to determine special instructions or considerations involving timelines and/or availability of crews
  • Evaluate component requirements for all utility equipment scheduled for outages to ensure all material are in stock
  • Assists Engineering and project management staff with work order closure on large scale substation and transmission construction projects, including but not limited to, setup and date upload for newly installed equipment and the creation of maintenance plans for the new equipment
  • Responsible for managing department crews in PEC’s emergency call out software
  • Operate PEC vehicle(s) for business purposes in accordance with applicable Federal, State, local law and PEC policies and procedures
  • Maintain driver eligibility through appropriate valid Texas Driver’s License and driving record in accordance with PEC policy
  • Maintain the security of confidential information
