About The Position

WSP is seeking a Transmission Line Project Engineer to join its Power Delivery Team. The position offers flexible work arrangements, with the option to work remotely or from an office across the Pacific region. Preferred locations include Reno, Nevada; Las Vegas, Nevada; San Diego, California; Phoenix, Arizona; Honolulu, Hawaii; and Seattle, Washington. The role provides technical leadership and guidance for planning, designing, and delivering high-voltage overhead transmission line projects. Work may involve research, design, concept development, planning, client interactions, business and proposal development, construction support, and staff mentorship. The engineer supports project development through disciplined engineering practices, multidisciplinary coordination, and compliance with quality and safety standards, delivering technical excellence and functional performance that meets or exceeds industry expectations. The successful candidate will lead, support, and coordinate project engineering, provide project manager support, and contribute to department operations and business planning. The position may require travel to client offices, field sites, or vendor facilities as needed.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
5–7 years of experience in transmission, designing or managing projects, and leading multidisciplinary teams.
Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
Understanding of the NESC, RUS, and/or GO-95.
Strong understanding of transmission line fundamentals and PLS-CADD operation.
Strong written and oral English communication skills for effective work with internal team members and external client personnel.
Experience using the Microsoft Office software suite.
Track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.

Cost estimating and scheduling experience.
Field experience.
MBA degree from an accredited university.
Involvement in technical societies such as IEEE, CIGRE, or ASCE.
Experience using ArcGIS, AutoCAD/MicroStation, and foundation design software such as FAD Tools, SHAFT, or LPILE.
POLE and TOWER experience.

Responsibilities

Lead and execute engineering for transmission projects up to 765 kV.
Lead or support initial project execution layout to establish an effective project plan.
Create and maintain project schedules.
Conduct weekly or bi-weekly project meetings, identifying upcoming deliverables, tasks, and responsible personnel.
Coordinate with clients on project status and support client meetings.
Maintain project workflow and communication across internal and external multidisciplinary teams.
Forecast project requirements to assist with resource planning.
Facilitate and follow WSP quality assurance and quality control procedures.
Participate in industry conferences to support professional growth and knowledge transfer.
Apply transmission line design expertise, including PLS-CADD, structure staking, foundations, assembly drawings, structure loading, material procurement, construction specifications and methods, construction estimates, and construction support.
Lead project teams of varying sizes.
Travel to client offices, field locations, or vendor facilities as needed.
Support Project Managers with project status reports.
Work with Project Managers to develop project scope, schedule, and budget.
Identify out-of-scope items and support work scope variances with Project Managers.
Provide weekly or bi-weekly project updates and forecasts.
Lead or support client meetings, in person or remotely, with Project Managers.
Develop client relationships to help position WSP for future work.
Support resource forecasting and recruitment efforts.
Provide business improvement methodologies and procedures.
Support staff performance and technical development with department leadership.
Contribute to business planning.
Make responsible and ethical decisions regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and follow WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
