About The Position

Kosmos Group is an engineering consulting firm specializing in electrical power generation, transmission, substation, and distribution. The Transmission Engineering team is hiring a Transmission Line Engineer to support its growing Transmission & Distribution practice from the Diamond Bar office. This is a hybrid position, with three days in the office and two days working from home. The successful candidate will contribute to all facets of transmission line routing and design, supporting projects ranging from new facilities to rebuilt facilities. The role works with multidisciplinary teams under the guidance of an assigned Project Engineer or Manager, while also leading smaller projects and assisting with complex projects. The engineer will support construction, perform field visits, help develop design criteria and specifications, and contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited college.
Engineering-in-Training (EIT) certificate.
At least 2 years of experience with Power Line Systems-based programs, such as the PLS Suite including PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE, or at least 2 years of transmission line design experience.
Strong attention to detail, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed for project support.

Nice To Haves

Prior engineering consulting experience.
Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABET-accredited college.
Professional Engineering (P.E.) license.

Responsibilities

Route and design a variety of transmission line projects, from new facilities to rebuilt facilities, using Power Line Systems software.
Be responsible for technical content and deliverables while working with multidisciplinary teams under the guidance of the assigned Project Engineer or Manager.
Perform sag-tension calculations for transmission tower loading.
Design and analyze structures and prepare loading trees.
Assist in developing design criteria and specifications for transmission line design and procurement of materials.
Perform peer quality checks.
Apply transmission industry codes and standards.
Assist the Engineer of Record in preparing construction documents, including plan and profile drawings, structure loading trees, and foundation and assembly drawings.
Assist the Engineer of Record with complex projects and serve as lead engineer for smaller projects.
Provide construction support for high-voltage transmission line projects.
Participate in and advance company knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
Conduct field site visits and act as a liaison between Kosmos Group engineering and construction teams.
Apply engineering principles and technical experience to address project issues and recommend solutions.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
