About The Position

Kimley-Horn's Orlando, FL office is seeking a Transmission Line Engineer with 3+ years of relevant experience to join our diverse and fast-paced organization. This role involves the design of high and extra-high voltage (69-500kV) transmission lines using PLS-CADD, preparing construction documents, and providing field support during construction. The ideal candidate will also be able to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, provide technical leadership, and guidance to less experienced staff members. Occasional travel to client and project locations will be expected. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program or Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
  • 3+ years related transmission line design experience
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) License
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in scheduling and budgeting.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Consulting or utility experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design of high and extra-high voltage (69-500kV) transmission lines using PLS-CADD.
  • Prepare construction documents including plan and profile drawings, structure loading trees, and foundation assembly drawings.
  • Prepare specifications and project design criteria.
  • Provide field support during construction.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients.
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance and instruction to less experienced staff members.
  • Occasional travel to client and project locations.
