About The Position

ENTRUST Solutions Group is seeking a Transmission Line Design Engineer new grad to join our team in Reno, NV. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and analyzing transmission line structures, conductors, and foundations, and supporting the construction of transmission lines that deliver electricity from power plants to homes and businesses. You'll start on projects in northern Nevada and grow into work for utility clients across the United States, learning the broader U.S. grid along the way. You will work closely with a diverse team of experienced engineers and PEs who will train you, along with project managers and stakeholders, to ensure safe and efficient delivery of power. This role is a great fit for December 2026 and May 2027 graduates. You'll make periodic field visits to project sites, so you must live in the Reno area. The U.S. power grid is one of the most stable and in-demand fields in engineering, and it's only growing. Much of the country's transmission infrastructure is decades old and due for replacement. At the same time, electricity demand is rising fast, driven by data centers, AI, and electrification. Utilities need engineers who can design the lines that make that growth possible, and that need isn't going away. Transmission line engineering is a unique, specialized niche within civil engineering, and it tends to pay well compared with many other civil disciplines. You'll also pick up a working knowledge of electrical engineering, and you may be surprised how familiar it feels. Electricity flowing through a line behaves a lot like water flowing through a pipe, so the hydraulics and fluids concepts you learned in school carry over.
