About The Position

At General Motors, our product teams are redefining mobility. Through a human-centered design process, we create vehicles and experiences that are designed not just to be seen, but to be felt. We’re turning today’s impossible into tomorrow’s standard —from breakthrough hardware and battery systems to intuitive design, intelligent software, and next-generation safety and entertainment features. Every day, our products move millions of people as we aim to make driving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale. The Propulsion Systems Noise & Vibration Integration (PSNVI) team is seeking a motivated and collaborative Transmission Lead Noise and Vibration Engineer to support transmission and driveline programs. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring GM vehicles achieve world-class noise and vibration (N&V) performance, contributing directly to the overall refinement and quality experienced by our customers. This position offers strong opportunities for technical growth, cross-functional collaboration, and leadership development across propulsion and vehicle integration teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of post-graduate engineering experience in one or more of the following areas: Noise & Vibration, Propulsion Systems, Gear Design, Calibration, Launch Activities.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate test vehicles.

Nice To Haves

  • Design Release activities; Engine/Transmission/Hybrid/BEV Calibration; Noise and Vibration Theory.
  • Fundamental knowledge of propulsion systems and driveline.
  • Fundamental knowledge of propulsion controls, ideally from direct product calibration experience.
  • Manufacturing and/or end-of-line test experience.
  • Experience in Quality, Warranty, and/or Service.
  • Demonstrated ability to characterize complex physical N&V phenomena using mathematical models.
  • Demonstrated ability to define and direct N&V laboratory experiments to obtain required technical information.
  • Experience with Siemens TestLab instrumentation.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively on diverse, cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the single point of contact with the assigned Propulsion System (PS) Product Team Leadership for system, subsystem, and component N&V design and development direction.
  • Establish propulsion system N&V performance requirements for new, major, and minor product programs. This includes requirements for critical subsystems and components that drive overall N&V performance and perceived quality.
  • Determine hardware content, design specifications, and calibration specifications needed to achieve target N&V performance.
  • Provide technical leadership in root cause analysis and resolution of propulsion system and driveline N&V issues, covering both new product launches and current product quality and warranty concerns.
  • Demonstrate N&V performance at critical program gates, using simulation and/or hardware in collaboration with all stakeholders.
  • Monitor N&V warranty and quality issues and develop remediation and continuous improvement plans in partnership with Manufacturing and Service teams for current production hardware.
  • Continue to refine current and future competitive N&V performance based on benchmarking and customer feedback.
  • Establish and lead execution of the N&V Analysis/Development/Validation (A/D/V) Plan at the product, subsystem, and component level.
  • Participate in Buy-Off Rides and test trips to support execution of the Development/Validation (D/V) Plan.
  • Lead N&V design reviews and actively participate in design-related forums and cross-functional meetings.
