About The Position

Seeking candidates to support the Transmission Engineering Services group in Denver, CO. This position will work closely with field crews, Facility Ratings Engineers, designers, and the Data Governance team to ensure data is complete, accurate, and compliant. The role also includes providing document control support and quality assurance of substation and transmission design packages. This position is for a May 31, 2027 start date. This position may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship’s initial term based on the candidate’s successful performance and Xcel Energy’s business needs.

Requirements

Current student, Junior or higher (as of Fall 2027)
Enrolled in an ABET accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Science or Technology such as computer engineering, computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, data science, drafting, electric design, project management, construction management
Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commuting to the designated work location in-person, per our hybrid work policy.

Nice To Haves

Experience with drafting/design, data analytics, & data management.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is essential (Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams)

Responsibilities

Interpret markups and comments to update drawings and spreadsheets accurately
Work with different teams including Feild crews and Facility Ratings Engineers to keep data complete, correct, and compliant
Update tracker progress regularly
Help manage drawings and documents in ProjectWise
Learn how document and data management works for design projects
Help improve processes
