About The Position

The AES Corporation, a global power company with 8,300 employees in 12 countries, is seeking a Transmission Engineering Intern for the Summer of 2027. AES is a leader in renewable energy sales and is recognized for its strong workplace culture and ethical business practices. This internship offers an opportunity to gain experience in transmission line design and related engineering fields within the AES Indiana Transmission Engineering Team.

Requirements

• Student pursuing a four-year degree in Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering.
• Academic standing of Sophomore status or higher is preferred.
• Strong academic background.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Organization and team collaboration skills.
• Experience using design software such as PLS-CADD or SolidWorks.
• Experience using Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.

Responsibilities

• Design high voltage transmission line facilities in support of AES Indiana's driven system improvements, reliability projects and system load growth.
• Participate in field visits to verify topography, identify obstacles and meet with construction crews to address engineering concerns and solicit design feedback.
• Update discrepancies between prints/schematics, databases and system models.
• Complete additional assignments as determined by their supervisor.
