This position is responsible for the analysis of the transmission system and the design and construction of complex electrical power systems in support of the Cooperative’s strategic initiatives. The role involves preparing technical specifications, analyzing technical data, and studying technical drawings and topographical maps to ensure compliance with standards and customer requirements. The engineer will operate computer-assisted engineering software, confer with stakeholders, and direct manufacturing, construction, and installation activities. They will also design, implement, maintain, and improve electrical instruments and systems, perform calculations for standards and specifications, investigate customer complaints, and oversee project production efforts to ensure successful, timely, and on-budget completion. Additionally, the role includes managing the design and monitoring the construction of large transmission projects, representing the Cooperative in the Public Utility Commission of Texas Certificate of Convenience and Necessity (CCN) process, and assisting with submitting projects to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas’ Regional Transmission Plan (RTP). The position requires performing standard engineering computations and analysis, preparing drawings and specifications, researching material specifications, and coordinating with various entities. The engineer will also provide guidance and mentoring to other department engineers, serve as an engineering resource to other departments, and act as a department and project leader. Performing transmission planning studies, maintaining confidentiality, staying updated on technological advancements, and demonstrating regular attendance are also key aspects of the role. This position may require working more than 40 hours per week.
