About The Position

Freese and Nichols is seeking an experienced, licensed engineer to join our Central Texas Treatment, Transmission & Utilities team as a Water and Wastewater Transmission/Utilities Engineer and/or Project Manager based in our San Marcos , TX office. In this role, you will be responsible for leading project design efforts; managing scope, schedule, and budget; preparing client communications; and supporting business development initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil , Environmental or Mechanical Engineering
  • Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • 4 + years of related water and wastewater treatment experience
  • Mix of technical experience including but not limited to water and wastewater design of pipelines, storage, lift stations, pump stations, coordination of civil/structural/mechanical/electrical design, and construction contract administration and management
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team as well as independently
  • Proven ability to manage a multi-discipline design team and assign tasks to and review work of EITs
  • Proven ability to build and maintain trusted advisor relationships with clients, both internal and external, as well as representatives of local, state and federal regulatory agencies

Responsibilities

  • Prepare design calculations, design drawings, and specifications necessary for most economical method of construction
  • Seal drawings and reports as
  • Perform independent studies and prepare reports of results and conclusions in a clear, concise manner.
  • Direct other engineers and technicians on assigned tasks and review and evaluate their results.
  • Present and deliver final reports to clients.
  • Maintain and utilize working knowledge of accepted engineering design standards and practices in the execution of design work that will meet the client’s needs and conform to firm standards.
  • Coordinate the work of drafting personnel; technicians; or other engineers on technical matters pertinent to project assignments.
  • Work toward keeping current tasks within schedule and budget to fit the needs of the project.
  • Provide input and coordination with other departments.
  • Provide data, as , for cost estimating, and secure preliminary equipment costs for reviews.
  • Investigate new methods and implement new ideas and/or procedures that will benefit the firm and its clients.
  • Keep project teams informed on project status, and communicate effectively on progress, next steps, and coordination requirements.
  • Serve as Project Manager for projects that primarily require work within own group but may also require coordination with other groups and the client
