About The Position

Prisma is a dynamic and growing language services provider committed to delivering exceptional Translation solutions to clients worldwide. We pride ourselves on our dedication to linguistic excellence and client satisfaction. Prisma is actively seeking experienced Court-Certified Translators to join our team of independent contractors. In this role, you will provide written translations for Prisma clients.

Requirements

  • Court-certified in California or with the U.S. Federal Courts. You will be asked to provide a copy of your current certificate. Applicants who do not provide a current court certification document will be disqualified (ineligible).
  • Certified by the American Translators Association (ATA) or an equivalent status from an alternate language institution, e.g., ALTA, CCHI, SCSI, LTI/ACTFL, ILR, etc.
  • Two years of experience providing human translation services to state or federal government agencies.
  • Three professional references who can confirm your status as a court-certified translator.
  • Full fluency in English and the other language.
  • Trained or accredited through a higher education institution
  • Minimum age: 18+ years or older
  • Minimum education: High School Diploma

Nice To Haves

  • Experience translating the following specialized topics: legal matters, water board hearings, science, engineering, and health.
  • After-hours and weekend availability is a plus (at your discretion).

Responsibilities

  • Provide written translations using a Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tool. We provide XTM access to you.
  • Adhere to all project work instructions, glossaries, and reference materials provided to you.
  • Ensure the source content's concept, style, and register are culturally and linguistically appropriate for the target language.
  • Perform language quality checks (before delivery) to ensure the target translation is error-free and faithful to the meaning of the source document.
  • Deliver completed translation jobs by the given deadlines and project budgets.
  • Review the formatted target-language PDF files for accuracy; mark any needed corrections. Using Adobe markup tools is required.
  • Communicate in a timely and professional manner with Prisma team members.
  • Willfully participate in quality management processes, e.g., Corrective Action Reports (CARs), Root Cause Analyses (RCAs), and solution implementation.
  • Take all necessary measures to protect and keep private any sensitive information shared with you to carry out translation projects (e.g., PHI, PII, SBU).
  • Adhere to policies and processes defined in Prisma's Master Service Agreement (MSA) and the Prisma Vendor Guide.
