About The Position

The Virginia Department of Health is seeking an experienced Translation & Interpretation Analyst to join the team. This role oversees coordination of translation and interpretation services by managing requests, communicating with vendors, and ensuring timely, accurate deliverables. It supports the VDH Translation Library and Language Access Hub through organization, version control, and monitoring of materials. Responsibilities include reviewing translated content for quality and consistency, upholding compliance with federal and state language access requirements, and promoting equitable access for LEP individuals. The position also tracks service usage, turnaround times, and costs for reporting purposes, while serving as a primary contact for staff, collaborating with internal teams, and responding to urgent language service needs. This is a restricted position, which is solely funded by the Department of Social Services for the period ending June 30th, 2027. The availability of funding is scheduled for review annually and thereafter. Continued employment is contingent on the continued availability of funds.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of translation, interpretation, and language access principles.
  • Knowledge of compliance requirements related to language access and accessibility.
  • Skill in reviewing translated materials for consistency and quality.
  • Strong organizational, tracking, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual proficiency preferred (Spanish required; additional languages a plus).
  • Experience in public health, healthcare, government, or human services environments preferred.
