About The Position

Houses of Hope is seeking a counselor to join their transitional living team. Counselors provide clinical assessment, treatment planning, and individual, group, and family counseling. They provide relationship-centered, trauma-informed care and work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary treatment team to support recovery, stability, and successful transition from residential services.

Requirements

  • Minimum age 21.
  • Valid Nebraska driver’s license and proof of insurance; clean DMV record.
  • Current Nebraska PLMHP, LMHP, LIMHP, PLADC, or LADC required.
  • CPR/First Aid Certified (will provide training).
  • Must be eligible to become a registered service provider with the Administrative Office of the Courts and Probation.
  • Excellent written communication skills for engaging with courts, probation, and other community professionals.

Nice To Haves

  • Dual licensure is strongly preferred.
  • Two years’ counseling experience.
  • Working knowledge of psychopharmacology and psychometric instruments.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices for substance use and co-occurring mental health treatment, including motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral approaches, and trauma-informed interventions.
  • Knowledge of community resources.

Responsibilities

  • Foster and maintain a safe, welcoming, trauma-informed environment for all individuals served.
  • Conduct biopsychosocial co-occurring diagnostic assessments, intake evaluations, and ongoing clinical assessments within your scope of practice.
  • Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment and discharge plans in collaboration with individuals in service and the treatment team.
  • Facilitate individual, group, and family counseling or therapy sessions within scope of practice and in accordance with program curriculum and evidence-based practices.
  • Provide crisis intervention, risk assessment, and safety planning as needed.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, medical providers, case managers, and other professionals to ensure continuity of care.
  • Provide timely clinical updates, reports, and other required communication to courts, probation, the mental health board, and other authorized entities, as applicable.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with Houses of Hope, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Participate in scheduled team meetings.
  • Participate in all required supervision and training to meet licensing requirements.
  • Educate clients and families about behavioral health conditions, coping strategies, relapse prevention, and available resources.
  • Uphold professional boundaries, confidentiality, and ethical standards of practice.
