About The Position

Granite Academy is a dynamic, strength-based day school serving middle and high school students whose social-emotional needs impact their learning experience. Our staff provide flexible, individualized programming and are dedicated to meeting the needs of our students, their families, and the public-school systems. We have an 11-month school year (202 days) and are located on a beautiful campus in Braintree, MA. Our team works with students individually and in small groups to support their full engagement in academic, vocational, social, and recreational activities that promote skill development, emotional well-being, and movement towards graduation.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as education, counseling or psychology required.
  • Maintains valid driver’s license as transporting students is required.
  • Available to work evenings, holidays, weekend shifts as required.
  • Background and driving record checks will be performed.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a mental health setting strongly preferred.
  • Activity planning and community outreach experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Help students discover what makes them feel competent and valued by working with them to develop life skills such as cooking, banking, vocational skills, and more.
  • Support students in developing community connections such as volunteering experiences and exploring new leisure skills.
  • Create safe and therapeutic community experiences by supporting students’ personal development and by role modeling effective coping strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with educational, clinical, nursing and vocational team members to ensure students meet their goals.
  • Support the transition coordinator’s curriculum across the classroom, on site programming and off site programming to help students prepare for an independent, successful life.
  • Provide physical interventions and verbal de-escalations to provide the safest therapeutic atmosphere for our students.
