About The Position

Monitor and analyze safety and security data to identify risks and support informed decision-making across transit operations. This position works closely with internal departments, law enforcement, and vendors to manage security systems, respond to incidents, and implement improvements. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, criminal justice, information systems, or public administration, or related field
  • Five (5) years’ experience in managing security operations and enforcement, public transportation.
  • Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
  • Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, collect, and analyze crime and safety data to identify trends, patterns, and emerging risks impacting transit operations.
  • Review and assess data received through Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD), telecommunication, and radio systems to support real-time awareness, incident documentation, and operational planning.
  • Coordinate with internal departments, law enforcement, and contractual vendors to address hardware, software, and access needs; including security cameras, monitoring systems, and badging systems; support the research, evaluation, and implementation of new safety and security technologies.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and procedures; establish schedules and service delivery standards for safety-related operations.
  • Coordinate and oversee project plans and daily operational activities of the Safety and Security Division; review work products, monitor progress, and identify and resolve workflow issues.
  • Provide training and technical support in the use of physical and digital maps; interpret geographic data to support field personnel and response coordination during safety and security incidents.
  • Review reports and data queries from multiple sources to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and maintenance of accurate records; conduct audits and validate safety and security data.
  • Maintain detailed records and prepare reports related to program outcomes, project progress, and operational performance; evaluate effectiveness and recommend improvements.
  • Prepare and present safety and security-related staff reports, data summaries, and supporting correspondence to inform management decisions and support departmental planning and compliance efforts.
  • Perform organizational and operational analyses of safety and security programs; identify areas for improvement and recommend policy, procedural, or system modifications to enhance overall program effectiveness.
  • Serve as the liaison for the assigned Division for the Transit Department with other City departments, divisions and outside agencies; facilitate collaboration and resolve sensitive or complex operational and security issues.
  • Attend and serve on a variety of boards, commissions, and committees; stay abreast of new development in the fields of Transit Security and Safety.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
