This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring occasional attendance to our Toronto and Mississauga offices and regular attendance to client sites in the Northern Greater Toronto Area, Newmarket and Uxbridge. Requirements

  • Professional Engineer designation in Ontario.
  • Experience acting as “Engineer of Record” for Bridges and Structures.

Responsibilities

  • Report directly to the Construction Director and be responsible for building a comprehensive QC/QA team.
  • Recruit staff, bid new projects, and manage the QA team during day-to-day operations, working hand-in-hand with contractors and clients.
  • Actively participate in ongoing projects where the QC/QA team will observe and document contractor’s work conforms to contract requirements.
  • Maintain project files/documentation.
  • Compile and calculate quantities of work performed to be used in calculating monthly contractor payments.
  • Document progress and completed activities.
  • Interact with clients on a regular basis.
  • Create and Implement the Project Quality Management Plan (PQMP) aligned with corporate standards, contract requirements, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Integrate quality requirements into project execution plans and contractor documentation.
  • Conduct supplier and subcontractor audits to verify compliance with ISO 9001 and project-specific standards.
  • Review and approve quality documentation, including Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), method statements, and material certifications.
  • Lead risk-based quality planning and ensure early identification of non-conformances.
  • Oversee inspection and testing activities during construction and fabrication.
  • Ensure traceability, documentation, and record-keeping of all quality-related activities.
  • Manage the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) process, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Liaise with the client’s quality representatives, independent verification bodies, and regulatory agencies.
  • Support engineering, procurement, and construction teams in implementing consistent quality practices.
  • Provide clear communication and reporting of quality performance to senior project management.
  • Implement lessons-learned and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Promote a “right first time” culture through training, awareness, and performance feedback.
  • Drive innovation in quality tools, processes, and technologies.
  • Act as Team Leader to manage field inspection team and interface with contractor and client QA/QC teams.
  • Plan and conduct Quality Control meetings, including preparatory and initial meetings and weekly QA/QC meetings.
  • Distribute preparatory and initial meetings checklist to the Owner within twenty-four (24) hours after the respective meetings.
  • Perform follow up meetings and distribute checklist accordingly.
  • Provide field reports and other Quality Control documentation (meeting minutes, etc.).
  • Meet all quality control requirements as indicated in each Contract Specification Sections.
  • Keep track of submittal logs and coordinate with Owner and Engineer to promptly resolve quality control issues.
  • Review all submittals per contract requirements and resolve issues with subcontractors promptly to meet Schedule.
