About The Position

This position performs physical and clerical work of limited complexity in a parts warehouse including receiving, storing, and issuing supplies, materials, and keeping stock records to assist in the operation of a large computerized storeroom. This position reports to the Storekeeper Transit Fleet Maintenance.

Requirements

  • Completion of Grade 10 combined with experience in a computerized warehouse stockroom, fleet servicing garage, or other related environment.
  • Knowledge of the basic methods and operation of a fleet parts warehouse related to receiving, storing, and issuing supplies in accordance with clearly defined procedures in a computerized environment.
  • Knowledge of methods used in storing materials in a stock room and outdoor storage area.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to maintain computerized store records.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data on a variety of quantity control and operational issues.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and monitor data for statistical information purposes.
  • Ability to perform basic data entry into a Windows-based computerized database.
  • Ability to work independently and/or as a contributing member of a team exercising initiative and good judgment to complete work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, demonstrating tact and diplomacy in order to establish effective working relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Ability to perform physical labor including heavy lifting up to 50 lbs unassisted.
  • Ability to perform basic math reasoning skills.
  • Ability to operate a 1-ton truck, forklift, and transit bus.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to obtain air endorsement, certification as a forklift operator, and WHMIS certificate.
  • Proof of education is required.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and report stock inventory discrepancies, records purchases, maintains database, performs physical count of inventory and reconciles actual stock count to computer generated reports.
  • Receives, unpacks, and delivers goods, restocks items as necessary, labels shelves, and transfers stock items, labelling items for easy identification and reviewing stock quantities to maintain required stock levels.
  • Ensure the accuracy of incoming stock against invoices, bills of lading, delivery slips, or purchase orders.
  • Accurately identify and count stock as listed on the cycle count list and record stock quantities for inventory purposes.
  • Provide service in filling orders at the parts warehouse counter and deliver supplies and materials to technicians in the garage.
  • Pickup and delivery of supplies and materials from various vendors within the City of Regina.
  • Safely operate various types of equipment including service support vehicles, forklifts, and transit buses as required.
  • Measures and monitors fluid levels of bulk fluid storage tanks and report.
  • Clean, maintain, organize, and perform other caretaking duties in the Transit Fleet Maintenance parts warehouse.
  • Follow all rules and regulations as set out in the Provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act and the City of Regina Occupational Health and Safety Manual.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
